Legacy Tech is looking for a Developer (Journeyman Level) to work in the Fairfax, VA area to fulfill a client requirement.

Developer (Journeyman Level) will support development of an integrated solution that visualizes cyber security related data. The solution is comprised of multiple Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and open source products, software configuration packages, and custom code which work together to operate as a single dashboard solution, tailored to meet client requirements. Candidate will be responsible for supporting the design of a complete Dashboard solution, and for developing and delivering custom components that work with the prescribed, pre-installed COTS and open source components.

Candidate will work as part of an agile development team to conduct systems design, analysis, and development of the solution. An ideal candidate will be a problem solver, who enjoys the challenge of tackling technical tasks and problems with little oversight, and connecting dots to think at the broader, solution level. Candidate will have a strong desire and aptitude for learning in an environment that is rapidly evolving, along with new requirements, technologies, and threat landscape.

Candidate will be capable of demonstrating previous professional work experience performing routine tasks at an intermediate level independently for all the following functional activities:

1. Intermediate level expertise creating data pipelines to include ETL and streaming data such as log data or tool/sensor data to indices.

2. Splunk forwarders, Kafka, Logstash, Beats, or ES/Splunk python.

3. Intermediate level expertise with data modeling, hands on configuration, tuning and operating of distributed data storage stacks. Open source tools including Kafka, Logstash, Beats, Elasticsearch, Kibana, or Splunk preferred.

4. Excellent written and oral communication; must be comfortable presenting information both internally, and to customers.

5. Working on an Agile development team

Qualifications:

1. Must be a US Citizen, capable of meeting clearance suitability requirements.

2. Possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) (STEM degree)

3. 5+ years’ experience developing enterprise-level applications and supporting end-to-end systems development and delivery in an Agile environment.

4. 3+ years’ experience with systems integration (i.e., moving data from one system to another, integrating functions between applications, experience with ETL, work with API’s, advanced level expertise with scripting languages, Python preferred).

5. 2+ years’ experience leading technical analysis efforts, to evaluate new methodologies and technologies, make recommendations that meet requirements and optimally deliver technical capabilities.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience querying data to include aggregations, calculations, and producing metrics from data. Experience designing and implementing data visualizations.

2. Experience with Kibana, Splunk, or Grafana preferred.

3. Experience with one or more message queuing systems. RabbitMQ or Kafka preferred. Experience working on an Agile development team Contributor to open source projects Experience with tools in both Linux and Windows environments

4. Experience creating data pipelines to include ETL and streaming data such as log data or tool/sensor data to indices.

5. Experience with Splunk forwarders, Kafka, Logstash, Beats, or ES/Splunk python libraries preferred Cloud workload experience (Amazon Web Services, Azure).

 

Education/Experience: BS degree with four to eight years of intelligence related experience OR Masters degree with two to six years of intelligence related experience.
